Breaking Barriers, Building Business

According to recent reports and statistics, only about 40% of individuals with disabilities are employed, compared to nearly 80% of individuals without disabilities. Liz Simmons, Director of Programs with the Tommy Nobis Center will discuss the benefits of creating and maintaining a disability-inclusive workforce. This will be coupled with some proven practices to implement disability-inclusive hiring practices while discussing how employment impacts persons with disabilities.


Bio

Liz Simmons joined Tommy Nobis Center in June 2021 as Director of Programs. She has dedicated the last 15 years to leading services for individuals with disabilities in the quasi-governmental and non-profit field. She has demonstrated successful oversight of program development and implementation and is excited to be focused on enhancing and growing the valuable employment programs and services delivered through TNC. Liz finds her greatest joy in spending time with her family, but also enjoys cheering on the Braves and Falcons, baking and decorating sugar cookies, and completing home improvement projects.
